We’re here today with one of a two part series with Shiraine and Raymond. It seems that we at Impressions by Annuj tend to attract a lot of mixed couples towards us. Raymond is from Guyana and is Hindu while Shiraine is from Sri Lanka and is from a Buddhist descent. We were very excited when they approached us for both their Hindu and Buddhist weddings along with their reception.
Their Hindu wedding was on a Friday evening and was filled with family, friends, and cheer. As Shiraine was getting herself beautified with her bridesmaids, I (Tanya) was at Raymond’s house. As per usual “brown standard time”, things were off to a bit of a delayed start but Raymond was nothing short of the perfect host. Whether it was making sure I was okay, to entertaining his boys or saying “hi” to every individual who entered the property, it seemed as though his only prerogative on his wedding day was to make sure that everyone was welcomed and had a good time.
It is no hidden secret that Shiraine is a beauty. Donned in a beautiful red lehengha, she stole the show. From the welcoming Bharat with the tussa to walking around the fire, they had a beautiful wedding day.

We’re here with Harsee and Davinder’s Shagun ceremony. On a rainy Saturday in September, we headed down to Pearl Banquet Hall for their engagement ceremony. With blessings, love, and applause surrounding them, Davinder entered the hall in his very own motorcycle and Harsee followed adorably with a scooter and some balloons. In a well fitted neon green anarkali, Harsee proves that she’s confident and beautiful enough to pull off a colour that most simply can’t. A fun filled night with great food, dancing, and even a celebrity speech? (Keep your eye out for famed Punjabi film celeb, Harbhajan Mann – uncle of our beautiful Harsee!)
Stunning is a word too often thrown around these days but Harsee and Davinder are truly a couple that make you stop in your tracks and stare in awe. Not only are they beautiful on the outside, but such humble, genuine people that we were so happy to be with on a special occasion.
When they came to us, we were already booked for the date of Purvee and Rajbir’s reception. Though they were disappointed, they booked with us anyways as they said their weddings were the most important part and they wanted us to cover that. So today, we are back with the grande finale for our coverage of Purvee and Rajbir’s wedding!
Their Hindu ceremony took place at Mirage Banquet Hall. Decked out in a beautiful red and white designer lehengha, Purvee had the spotlight for sure.
They had a beautiful ceremony with a great Pundit (Hindu priest) who made it a point to explain the reasons why everything was being done. Hindu ceremonies are always done in Sanskrit, an ancient language which much like Latin is not used very much anymore for daily conversation. So one will find that at many Hindu weddings, many members of the audience will not be paying attention/ will be talking simply out of boredom because they can’t understand the priest as he is speaking an age-old language. This has lead to a trend towards getting the priest to translate chants or explain the significance of a particular ritual. After taking seven steps around the sacred fire, Purvee and Rajbir were wed!
This left only one part remaining: Rajbir’s shoes. After a lengthy negotiations process between the bridesmaids and the groomsmen, a price was agreed upon and our groom finally got his soles back.
Enjoy some of our faves.
Purvee and Rajbir, you are a beautiful couple and we wish you nothing but the best!

This time we have something different for you guys. A shoot we recently did with Arthy from Etched In Time Artistry for the Jodi Bridal Magazine, which is run by Abi Jegan of Geethams Banquet Services. With help from Abi we secured a location at the beautiful Scarborough Convention Centre in Scarborough.
Arthy wanted to shoot 4 different models for her ad so we started looking and found 4 gorgeous models, Rubi Satha, Amrit B. Ahluwalia, Shobna Sharma and Prasani J. (in order of appearance in the photos below). The stunning outfits and jewellry were all provided by Aarathie’s Super Centre. All four were amazing to work with and the photos in turn turned out beautiful while Arthy’s makeup and styling was, like always, perfect.
We were SO stoked when the Ohm Wedding Magazine team approached us to do a 6 page spread in their premier edition! The fact of even being considered to be part of a well-renowned print publication within a mere six months of starting up our business makes us feel so honoured that our photography is being well received by the public. We shot a few different looks for Chandan Fashion and as it was our first crack at fashion photography, it was very exciting to shoot with experienced models (including Ahmed & Prasani who was the cover Model for the last Ohm & Jodi Magazines!)! Make up and hair was done by the fabulous Kavita Suri – coordinating was done by Thadshiga Jeyaseelan of Dreamers Events. We were pretty fortunate to work with such a focused but fun team! Really looking into doing more fashion/beauty work.
Interestingly, we learned about the limitations of doing print photography for fashion businesses. Of course the shots had to be portrait, and full bodied, but also the draping of sarees, the postures, the expressions used – every aspect of the photo was thought out down to the last detail.
BUT! We also took some extra shots for ourselves to enjoy. We love them and hope you do too! 🙂
