Mathan & Nirossa – Hindu Wedding – Toronto, Canada

Hello friends!

We’re here today with the beautiful and emotional wedding of Mathan and Nirossa.  I think with Mathan and Nirossa, it’s hard to not be filled with emotion – whether it is the happiness of the celebration, the bittersweet sadness that Nirossa will be moving from her native Germany to Canada, or the pure love they have for each other… they are a passionate pair.

The got married on a stellar day in the beautiful Swaminarayan Temple (BAPS Temple) in Etobicoke.  Surrounded by their nearest and dearest, they were united through a traditional Brahmin ceremony.  One of the best weddings we shot that day because they are such a wonderful pair.  Down-to-earth, calm, happy, and kind – these are the clients we live to photograph.  It also doesn’t hurt that they are a hot pair as well!  🙂  We’re sure that Kowsi from Beauty Creation had no problems dolling up Nirossa!

From Mathan majestically awaiting his bride, to Nirossa’s tears as she is greeted by her father, to laughter with the groomsmen, to their saree-flying shot at the end – this is one of our favourite weddings to date.  Enjoy 🙂

Anu & Goby – Reception – London, England

Hey guys,

We’re back today with Anu and Goby for their reception. This was held at a beautiful estate in Hertfordshire called De Vere Hunton Park.

Anu wore a beautiful net saree and a gorgeous designer kundan set. We took some great couple photos around the estate during cocktail hour as the guests were entertained by a magician and were served scrumptious appetizers made by Freshco. The reception was filled with speeches – some that made us laugh (Pratik), some that made us cry (Jenni – even reducing the groom himself to tears), and some that made us awwwwww (Goby!).

Speaking of Goby’s speech – I don’t think we’ve ever received a more ringing endorsement in a speech. Most clients tend to say thank you to us during their final speech at their reception and we are so grateful for the fact that they are so appreciative of our work. Goby took it yet another step further. After all was said and done in his speech, he left the very last thank you for us! It was something like this “And I have to thank Annuj & Tanya. They came here from Canada as our photographers, but they are not only our photographers here, they are our guest, our family. They have been amazing to us this whole time and I am so glad we went with them.”

AND if that wasn’t enough, at the very end of the night, Goby wanted to get a shot of himself and all of his mates with some very fine cigars. As we are setting up for the shot, Goby walks out of the shot, faces the crowd of his friends and says a little something: “LISTEN! ALL OF YOU SHUT UP! LET ME TELL YOU RIGHT NOW… IF YOU DON’T GET ANNUJ & TANYA TO COME TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR WEDDING, YOUR MARRIAGE WILL BE CURSED FOR LIFE AND I WILL NOT BE COMING TO THE WEDDING!” – a very sweet and unbelievably hilarious vote of confidence!

Hope you enjoy these shots!

Anu & Goby – Hindu Wedding – London, England

Hey all,

Over this past summer, we went to England to shoot a wedding.  This bride, Anu, is a cousin to one of our other brides and came down to Toronto last November to attend Renetha & Niroshan’s wedding. While there, she claims to have fallen in love with the way we worked with them and the moments we captured. She said she HAD to have us! Ummmm a gorgeous bride in beautiful London? We would be FOOLS to pass.

Her traditional Sri Lankan Hindu wedding was beautiful. Adorned in a beautiful white and gold saree, she came down the aisle as a happy bride. After the ceremony, we went to the stunning Oshwal temple neighbouring the banquet hall. Though our groom, Goby, was a bit tired from the day’s events, our Anu was good to go. And go we did. Enjoy.

Nirojan & Mituna – Toronto Hindu Wedding

Hey guys!

We’re here today with Mituna and Nirojan’s wedding. Their wedding was filled with happiness, laughter and cheer – and pretty much went off without a hitch! A fantastic job was done by Shaminy at GlamBeauty for Mituna’s make up and hair. Shaminy was also there to change Mituna’s look for the second half of the wedding – the civil ceremony. Mituna was decked out in a beautiful and bright yellow saree with red and black embellishments. A lovely day with a great couple! Hope you enjoy these photos.

Be back soon!

Niroj & Abi – Toronto Catholic Wedding

Hello all,

We are so excited to bring you today’s wedding of two very special people. If you aren’t already well acquainted with Abi & Niroj, you can catch their football themed engagement shoot here and their classic engagement shoot here.

Their Catholic ceremony took place on a very sunny Saturday afternoon in July. One detail to note was their aisle! They framed photos of themselves from young to old and put it at the end of each pew. As they walked down the aisle, their history accompanied them to where they are today – how thoughtful!

After a lovely ceremony, we headed over to their planned location for their bridal party shoot. This place was completely rammed with people. We decided to leave and went to an abandoned barn for their bridal party photo shoot. Little did we know how perfect this mishap of events would be.

Their reception was held at the newly opened Markham Convention Centre. The Perfect Setting provided the decor for the event and they provided just that – a perfect setting. The whole hall was oozing of rustic elegance. Tree stumps, bird cages, mason jars and candles. Soft browns, pale pinks with golds and whites made this into an unbelievably delicate stage. To complement Abi’s lace A-line gown and pearl jewelry, the centerpiece jars were wrapped in white lace and the mouths of the jars were lined with strands of pearls. We couldn’t get over how utterly beautiful their reception was.

But remember that a wedding is a two-person affair which means that Niroj had to incorporate himself into the picture as well. And anyone who knows Niroj knows that if there’s one thing he’s passionate about – it’s football (hence, their themed engagement shoot). So his personality shone through with football team table numbers, a football crashing into their wedding cake AND a football inspired couple entrance. For traditional portion of the reception including blessings from elders and garland exchange as well, Abi changed into a beautiful designer saree. This royal blue lehengha styled piece had a huge and beautiful silver border. With an energetic MC, short (but sweet) speeches from loved ones, video complications from friends, and a dance from the bridal party (including the couple themselves), the reception was a big hit.

We hope you love their wedding as much as we do.

Purvee & Rajbir – Brampton Sikh Wedding

Hey WordPress World,

Today comes an especially special treat for us as it was the first Sikh wedding not only that we had shot, but also had attended. What we found was a beautiful and tranquil ceremony filled with song and melodious chanting.  Purvee entered the Gurdwara in a beautiful red anarkalli. She and Rajbir sealed their promise as they circled the altar.

Time was of the essence as they were having both their Hindu and Sikh ceremonies on the same day so we had a very small window of time to shoot the couple in between. Before we started shooting, some of Purvee’s bridesmaids approached us and asked us if we would be able to get Rajbir in a pose where they would be able to easily steal his shoes. For those of you who may not be as familiar, there is an Indian tradition of the bride’s side stealing the groom’s shoes. If they succeed in this, there is an event after the wedding that involves the groom’s side (on behalf of the groom) and the bride’s side (on behalf of the bride) going through a price negotiation in order to get the groom’s shoes back. But I must admit while shooting Rajbir in the morning he said he was going to be on his guard based on past exposure to Purvee’s friends. “They’re crazy!”, he told me as his turban was being wrapped, “one of her friends’ weddings? The groom walked around the whole day barefoot.”

So as I had started to say, the bridesmaids, dedicated to their task of thievery, approached us to get Rajbir in a pose that would help them get a hold of his shoes. Now, considering that BOTH Annuj and I knew Purvee before we had even met each other, I guess we were both a part of the bride’s side (sorry, Rajbir – but thank you for respecting our loyalty!). So set up we did and steal they did! As you will find from the photos below, Rajbir was taken by surprise but quickly called for back up from his boys and all pandemonium broke lose!

They fought and fought and at some point between the screaming, scratching, threatening and bleeding, the girls managed to escape with his shoes.

At this point, a defeated Rajbir turns to his brother and asks him for his shoes. JUST AS his brother dutifully takes off his feet, Puja (a bridesmaid) comes out of nowhere and grabs them! It was a very short struggle as a crafty bridesmaid put the shoes up her anarkalli top and ran back into the hotel victorious! Poor Rajbir was left to get YET ANOTHER pair of his groomsmen’s shoes!

Hope you enjoy some of our favorites.

iDreams Magazine – Brides by Payal Shoot, Toronto

Hello Everyone!

So a few months ago we were approached by Payal from Brides by Payal, a makeup and mehndi artist to work together on photos for her upcoming magazine for the Dreams Wedding Show.  If you head over to her facebook page you’ll see that she has great work and is by far one of the best mehndi artists we’ve ever met.

She approached us about shooting two models so we started looking right away. Eventually we decided to go with Abissheka Lloydson for the makeup and Sukhmeen Ghotra for the mehndi.  They both proved to be wonderful models and were amazing to work with.

We also decided that instead of a regular black or white background we should make a set, so off to Homesense we went!  Homesense always has a lot of great stuff and we found a tufted leather chair, an antique looking side table, a table lamp as well as a rustic looking hanging candle holder.  Oh and not to mention a few sarees that we borrowed from our mothers.

We got to the location a little early set everything up and by the time we were ready so was our first model Abissheka.  She was amazing and she pulled off the bridal look perfectly, even though she’s only 16!  Sona was up next and she also did great and the mehndi that Payal did on her back was simply stunning.

But we were a little biased towards our favourite model: our ever-amazing, MOLLY!

Hope you guys enjoy!
